The Vedas
Vedas are huge texts composed in ancient India. Their language is Sanskrit which is called 'Vedic Sanskrit'. These are not only Sanskrit literature but the oldest books of world literature. Vedas are also the scriptures of Hindus. The Vedas are considered as 'Apoorusheya' (which no person can do) and Brahma is considered to be the author of them. They are also called 'Shruti' which means 'heard'.
The word 'Veda' is derived from the "Vid" metal of the Sanskrit language. The literal meaning of 'Veda' is 'texts of knowledge'. These Vedas are four, but all four were considered to be a single 'Veda Granth'.
One and all the Vedas: Pranava: Sarvāmāmaya - Mahabharata
Later it became very difficult to read Veda, so three or four divisions of the same Veda were done. Then they started calling him 'Vedatrayi' or 'Chaturveda'.
Presently the word science is as miraculous as the word Veda in ancient times. At that time, the four Vedas symbolized pure knowledge and science.
